We’ve spent the better part of the past 30+ years talking with people that didn’t have a clear understanding of God’s Word. Many are confused when it comes to blessings verses salvation. Salvation is the gift of God. You didn’t work for it, nor pay for it and you surely didn’t earn it. Ephesians 2:8, “For by grace are ye saved through faith: and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” We cannot understand why it’s so hard for individuals to understand this. It was God’s grace that He extended to you that drew you unto repentance. When you exercised your faith in the finished work that Christ did on the Cross, you were saved. You weren’t living a perfect life when Jesus saved your soul and He didn’t save you because of your works. God chose you to be one of His children and had the Holy Ghost knock on your heart’s door. The moment you repented of your sins and asked Jesus to be your Saviour, you were saved. Pastor Bibey did a one hour teaching on overcomers some time back and Jesus tells us in Revelation Chapters two and three, that those that overcome the world will receive many blessings from Him.
Rev. 2:7, Eat of the tree of life.
Rev. 2:11, Not hurt by second death.
Rev. 2:17, Get new name
Rev. 2:26, Receive power to rule nations.
Rev. 3:5, Name will not be blotted out of Book of Life.
Rev. 3:12, Have God’s name written upon us.
Rev. 3:21, Allowed to sit with Jesus in His Throne.
These are just a part of the promises Jesus has promised the overcomers. We learn in I John 5:5, who the over comers are: “Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?” We that have accepted Christ as our Saviour, in our hearts, are overcomers. †
Last Day’s Work
We’re quite sure all Christians know we are living in the last days of this age, (the church age) as we know it. The next time period those on earth will experience will be the Tribulation period or Daniel’s 70th week. This will be a seven year period of time when God pours His wrath out upon Israel and all that have rejected His only begotten Son, Jesus. While the events of this time period are fulfilling, we Christians, will be in heaven with Christ preparing to return to rule and reign with Him for one thousand years. A time period known as the Millennium. This will be a time of peace, because the devil will be bound in the bottomless pit and morals will be restored. At the end of this time period, Satan is loosed for a short time to tempt those that were born during this period, that have never been tempted with evil. The Bible states that many will be persuaded to follow Satan and try to over throw Jesus’ Kingship. We learn in the Book of Revelation that his efforts fail. God sends fire and brimstone and destroys all evil from the face of the earth. Satan is cast into the Lake of Fire, where the Anti-Christ and False Prophet, at that time, will have been for one thousand years. Then we see the Great White Throne Judgment setting. All the wicked, lost souls from Adam until God’s judgment, will stand before this throne to be judged and then cast into the Lake of Fire with The Anti-Christ, The False Prophet and the Devil. Then the earth will receive the dwelling place of God, The New Jerusalem, called, “The Bride of Christ.” God moves His home from heaven down to the earth to live and dwell with man in the age known as the eternal age. Here we will rule and reign with Christ forever. The earth will be free from all evil and rebellion. Once again, it will be like it was in the beginning. God will live here on earth with us. What a wonderful time that will be. We need to be about our Father’s business. †
Walking and Talking with Jesus
Every born again Christian should remember the time and place where they heard the voice of God calling them unto salvation. They may not have realized what was taken place and who it was they were listening to, but it was God. The same God that sent His only Begotten Son, Jesus, still loves you and watches over you everyday. Jesus is with you every minute of the day and night and He too, wants to fellowship with you. You know, how you talk to the Lord, telling Him your desires, needs and wants. What most people fail to realize is, that He also talks to you everyday, but many times He never has your attention. Pastor Bibey spoke of how it took him years to realize that God was talking to him continually, but he was too busy about his own business to listen to Him. How God was telling him what to do to avoid catastrophes in his life and things that would make his life easier, but like he said, “He was too busy.” It’s a crying shame that most of us wait too late in life to truly know how much God really loves us and that we can walk and talk with Him everyday. †
