2020 Issue 4 “Search The Scriptures”
Jesus gives us a command in John 5:39, “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” Did you notice that Jesus never said, “Please?” Christ tells us in John 14:15, “If you love me, keep my commandments.” Did you know that there are over 1,000 commands in the New Testament alone? Again, Jesus never says, “Please.” The reason He commands us to study is, there are millions that know Jesus is the Son of God and they truly believe it, because that’s what they have been taught all of their lives. These go around testifying of Jesus, but they only have mind knowledge. John 14:6 and John 6:44 have never kicked in for them to have a personal relationship with Christ and have heart knowledge. This is why, for over thirty years, I’ve been telling people to study God’s Word.
You knew the story of Jesus way before you were saved. Most, never realize that they are on their way to Hell, because they have never studied God’s Word. In Roman’s 10:9-10 the Word tells us, that we must believe in our heart that God raised Jesus from the dead for us to be saved. There are many Scriptures in the Bible that state the same thing. Satan and his followers believe that Jesus is the Son of God, but they will never have that personal relationship with Him and be saved.†
The Continuation of My Trip To Romania
After my friend and I reached the fourth floor, we began to look for our room. As we traveled down the hall we could smell a strange odor, which I learned later, was marijuana smoke. As I went into our room, which was very dark and spooky, I took out my anointing oil and began anointing all windows and doors. As we started getting our thoughts together, we heard a loud noise coming down the hall, it was Mario. He did not want to wait down stairs alone. He couldn’t speak English, but we could understand his fear. In telling more about Mario, the only English word he knew was excursion. He continually asked if we wanted an excursion the next morning. We finally said yes, after an hour of discussion, we decided that 8:00 AM would be the best time to meet. After praying hard, that night, we went to bed. When the Sun awoke me the next morning, I saw two crosses as I looked at the window. One cross was where I had anointed the window upon arrival at our room. The other cross was on the steeple of a church across the street from the Hotel.
That would be the place where I would pass out 1,000 books of John later that week. It was an old Orthodox Church, where people would stop by and burn candles for their loved ones. Mario came and off we went on our excursion. We went to Ceausescu’s Palace, which was the largest building in the world. I’ve never seen any thing like it before. The parking lot was larger than any shopping center I’ve ever been in. After returning from our excursion, I went down the street to start telling everyone that Jesus loved them as I passed out the books. I learned that the Government had been telling the Romanians, for years, that no one cared about them and that they were not loved by anyone. They told them there was no God. I had my hands full. While I stood there on the second day, I was approached by a young Romanian woman with a baby in her arms. All the English she spoke was, “Pastor give me one dollar for my baby.” She indicated that the baby needed food. I gave her a book of John, told her that God loved her and that we, “Americans,” cared. I then, gave her a one dollar bill. About 15 minutes later, another Romanian woman came with a young baby.
She told me the same story saying, “Pastor give me one dollar for my baby.” After telling her the same things I had told the other lady, I gave her one dollar and sent her away. One dollar, US is equivalent to $5.00 Romanian. Later, came the third lady and as she approached, I noticed the baby was wearing the same outfit as the others, I looked across the park area and there stood the other two ladies. There were three women and one baby. They all shared the baby to get money from me, “A dumb American.” I told her the story, gave her a book and one dollar bill. I called the other two ladies over and attempted to explain why I had come to Romania. I learned that the first lady could speak very good English. I sowed much seed about the birth, life, death and resurrection of Christ. They left more educated and richer than when they first came. Later that day, a woman came by and as I spoke to her about Jesus, she started speaking a mile a minute. I couldn’t understand a word of what she was saying, but about that time, a group of young students came by. I knew that most foreign schools make their students learn English.
I ask the students to interpret for me. They were so excited for the opportunity to use their English skills The lady kept talking and the students told me that she was very concerned about her teenaged son. He was very sick and he was also lost. I learned that she was a Church going Christian and that she was saved. She asked me to go with her to her house and pray for her son. I quickly said, “No”. I knew it could be a trap, I told her where I was staying and if she wanted her son prayed for to bring him there. She explained that she had church that night at 5:30 and she would bring him by the hotel at 5:00 and then maybe I could go to church with them, this might encourage her son to go with her also. She attended a small Baptist church that had just been started. I don’t know if the son was healed or not, but I know he was saved. We went to church with them and met some wonderful people. They asked me to speak and I’m sure they got an ear full. This is just the start of a wonderful trip. Later, I’ll tell you about the Gypsy Caravan, I saw camping beside the road. I stopped and we had church. †
