2020 Issue 3 “We Had Better Be Ready”
He’s coming soon and there’s no doubt, many will be left when we hear that shout. The shout will come from Heaven, “Come up hither,” but those that are lost and those that have mind knowledge of Christ, will be left behind. We must warn all of our loved ones that they must prepare for His coming. In Acts 1:8, Christ commanded both, you and me, to be witnesses unto Him all over the world. He tells us that He will come as a thief in the night. We’ll never know the hour nor the day, but He will come for us. All of us have to have heart knowledge of Christ. The Bible tells us in, John 3:3 and in 3:5, that we must be Born Again meaning, we have been born of the water or flesh as we understand God’s Word, but we must be born of the Spirit also, to see or inherit The Kingdom of God. Please help me warn others. †
Standing Before Him
Can you imagine what it will be like, when we stand before, “Jesus,” The Son of God? Please remember, He knows everything about you and me. He knows all of our good and he knows all of the bad things we’be thought or done. I’m glad that I don’t have to work my way into Heaven. I’m glad that Christ did it all for me on Calvary. In the book of Ephesians 2:8 it says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” You see, we can’t live a life good enough to be saved and God knew this, so He sent His only Begotten Son, “Jesus” to save us and redeem us from hell. We have preachers teach and preach that we must do this or that to be saved, but all we must do is believe in our heart, that Jesus is the Son of God and that God raised Him from the dead to be our Saviour.
Romans 10:9-10 Christ did it all on the Cross and that’s why He said, “Father it is finished.” Jesus did it all for us. In I Corinthians 3:15, Paul tells us, “If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.” You see, if our works are good we shall receive rewards, but if they are bad we will not receive rewards, but we shall still be saved. Our works are for rewards or crowns in Heaven, but our Salvation was free, we received it by our faith in Christ. The Bible clearly tells us, not to let man deceive us. Jesus tells us to study God’s Word, so we can do as he did when the devil tempted him in the wilderness. He simply said, “Satan, it is written.” †
A New Year Resolution
My resolution this year, is to try to do more than ever for my Lord. I’m hoping to have more salvations, this year, than ever. Let’s all try to do more this year. †
My Trip To Romania
I remember my first trip to Romania. A friend and I had been in Russia for about ten days and boy were we ready for some good food. We had been eating military meals ready to eat or M.R.E.’s. I had over 1,000 Books of John in a duffel bag, written in Romanian. The Country had been Communist and had just been overthrown. The President and his wife had been tried, found guilty and taken out back and shot. The people were still celebrating in the streets. I know I’ve told you the story before, but it’s so real. This was another country that had not heard the gospel in over 50 years. We arrived at the airport around 12:00 midnight. While standing in line, a man behind me spoke and asked me if I was going to the ski slopes for vacation. I immediately told him no, I was there to preach the gospel, because God had sent me. He told me to be very careful the people were crooked. He told me not to take any taxis that didn’t have a name and number on the side.
Well, when I finally got outside, there were no taxies to be found. A man approached me and spoke broken English. He asked me where I was going and I told him I had reservations at the Hotel Mesopotamia. He assured me he knew the place and asked me to come around back to get the car. I told him to go get the car and we would wait for him. After a few minutes, a car that should have been junked years ago, came around the building. The driver could not speak any English. We later named him Mario, because he only knew how to drive one speed and that was fast. We finally made a deal for him to take us to the Hotel for $20.00 Romanian, which was about three dollars U.S. We drove, drove and drove. Finally we turned down a very dark street, which had one 40 watt bulb hanging over a sign that said, “Hotel Mesopotamia.” I told my friend to stay with the car and our luggage, which was tied onto the car with rope. I went inside and there was a lounge in the back of the lobby and the place was smoked filled. I stopped at the registration counter and no one was there. I spoke and finally a man appeared. He had a big bushy mustache and he asked if he could help?
I explained that I had reservations and that I wanted to check in. He said that the registration desk was closed and I would have to register in the morning. He gave me the keys to our room and explained it was on the 4th floor. I got my friend and Mario to help with our luggage. We had out suit cases with our clothes from Russia, where it was 10 degrees at the hottest and now we’re in a place where it’s at least 95, plus we have a case with our food and we have the duffel bag with the books. We got to the elevator and the man spoke and said it was broken, we must take the stairs. We told Mario to stay with two of the bags, because we could not carry them. As we started up the stairs we saw there were no lights. On each floor they had a 40 watt bulb at the entrance of the elevator and stair case. The Hall was very dark, so we had to feel our way along. This is just one of hundreds of mission trips that I’ve been privileged to take over the years. I’ll have to finish this story in my next news letter. †
