2022 Volume 31 Issue 03 “The Truth”
” The Truth”
“If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?” Luke 16:11 Jesus spoke these words and we know there’s a greater meaning behind this statement than most people care to understand. God has given each of us a certain number of days, a gifted talent and a designated amount of treasure to fulfill our purpose here on earth. Most people waste the bigger part of their life searching, seeking and working for the things that have no spiritual value at all. Things that will fulfill the lust of the flesh. We know that most of us get wiser with age and we thank the Lord we do. However, if you take a good look around you, you’ll see that most aren’t concerned about where they will spend eternity. We’re beginning to understand more and more about Sodom and Gomorrah. Child molestation, raping, killing, homosexuality, lesbianism, lying, cheating and stealing combined with every act of sin man can imagine is taking place right before our eyes. These same people think they will make into heaven. Preachers and Pastors are not warning them to read and study God’s Word. What is the Truth? The Truth is simply this. If we can’t be faithful with what we have, God will not entrust us with more. We need to give of our time, talent and treasure.
“Sharing”
As a young man walked down a rough, dry and dusty road on a very hot Summer day, he became very thirsty and tired. Suddenly, he saw a sign on an old fence post, that read, “Shade Tree ahead, stop and enjoy the cool shade.” As he walked a little farther, he saw this giant old Oak Tree. He stopped and as he began to rest in the cool of the shade he noticed another sign that read, “There’s a large park bench behind the tree, sit and rest awhile.” Being in no hurry, he gladly found the seat and relaxed on the bench. While lying there, he noticed another sign stating, “There’s a fresh cool spring of water behind the old fence, help yourself to a fresh drink of water.” The young man suddenly became more thirsty, than ever. He arose, climbed over the fence and there he found the Cool Spring of water. While drinking his fill, he noticed another sign that read, “There’s a few fresh watermelons in the shady grove behind you, help yourself to the refreshing melons.” As the young man cut open a fresh ripe melon and began to indulge, he noticed an old man standing in the grove watching him. Being startled, he stuttered, “How are you today Sir?” The old man smiled and answered, “I’m blessed and how are you?” The young man replied, “Fine, can you tell me who put the signs out and why all these comforts are out here?” The old man hung his head down and began to explain. He said, “well, it’s like this, the wife and I realized that God has really blessed us over the years and we thought it would be nice to share our blessings with others. You see, many years ago, before we ever bought this farm, an acorn fell to the ground and God saw fit to have a tree right here beside my field, so I could cool, while plowing with my mules in the heat of the day. One day while I was resting in the shade, I realized that it would be nice to sit on something besides the ground. Then, I remembered that I had several boards left from building my barn, so I built the park bench and it’s been a real blessing for me and my wife. one day while she sat on the bench watching as I plowed, I came through the area over there and out of the ground came a stream of cool fresh water. I dug a hole there and the spring has been running ever since. We were blessed to have fresh cool water right here at the shade tree by the field. As far as the melons go, we had a record harvest this year, we sold load after load, then we gave all of our neighbors all the melons they could eat. These are late melons that we didn’t want to see wasted, so we’re sharing them with those what want them. You see, son, God has blessed us with the shade tree that He grew, He made the tree that provided the lumber for the park bench, that’s His water springing up from the ground and only God can create a melon from a seed. The wife and I know where our blessings come from and we want to share our blessings with others. There’s one other thing that God has given us and I want to share it with you if it’s ok. It’s His Son Jesus. The same God that loved us enough to give us these other blessings, loved us so that He sent His only begotten Son to die on the cross, so that we could live with Him forever. Jesus paid our sin debt just as He paid your sin debt. I can tell that God is dealing with you as I speak. The tears in your eyes let me know that the Lord sent you down this road today. You see, the wife and I want you to enjoy these blessings, but we had much rather see you enjoy the eternal blessing of everlasting life. Son, have you ever accepted Jesus Christ as your Saviour?” The young man replied, “No, but I feel something that I’ve never felt before. What do I need to do to have this eternal life?” The old man told him he needed to repent of all his sins. Then they prayed and the young man received Christ and was saved. Many times people are effected by the kindness and love that we show. We never know what God has planned, but we need to share the plan of salvation.
