Our Story

Dunbar Cave Baptist Church

Formerly Fellowship Baptist Church, Guthrie Highway St. Bethlehem
Formerly Parkview Baptist Church 300 Dunbar Cave Road, Clarksville, TN

After existing at her original location on Guthrie Highway near the Red River Bridge and known as Fellowship Baptist Church, five acres of property was donated and construction of the current facility at 300 Dunbar Cave Road was completed with the first services conducted in December 1967.

Upon completion of the current building the church voted to change the name to Parkview Baptist Church. The original value of the current facility with property was valued at $75,000.00.

Seating was curved oak pews with red carpet on floors and pews. The seating capacity was approximately 225 people. There is an additional 2,280 square feet of educational space. The new facility was completed as a total brick structure. All the labor was donated and at the first service a new piano and new organ was also donated.

Rev. Norton Burke was pastor when services began in the new facility.

In 2003 there was a need for a major renovation for the church. A phased total renovation of the building was planned. The roof was totally replaced, the curved pews were replaced with cushioned straight back chairs, the cost to reupholster the pews would have greatly exceeded the cost of purchasing new chairs for seating, facility was painted throughout, new carpet was installed, the pulpit area was torn out and replaced with a curved front pulpit for larger space and esthetics.

God was gracious in providing all needed funds for the approximately $40,000.00 renovation over three years.

In September 2008, the church voted to change the name of the church to Dunbar Cave Baptist Church to associate more the close association with the local Dunbar Cave State Park one fourth of a mile down Dunbar Cave Road.

The congregation has a strong desire toward mission support by providing financial support to local missions such as the BCM (Baptist Collegiate Ministries), Austin Peay State University, Hope Pregnancy Center, local homeless and food services, the MERIDZO Ministry, Lynch, KY, and International Ministry to India Mission Voice Network by providing funds for worship centers, fresh water wells, sewing machines, motor cycles for transport of pastors and monthly funding for local pastors.

Through Christ, our history has laid the foundation for the continual growth of His church and at Dunbar Cave Baptist Church we will always reach out to minister to those seeking the love and grace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

We welcome you to be a vital part of God’s church and it’s future growth.
