Assemblies

Point Hill

The Point Hill Assembly located in St Catherine Jamaica West Indies, was birthed in 1967 when Deaconess Wright started hosting prayer meetings in her house with her family. This little family was later joined by the families of the Robbs, Francis and Wellingtons as the Lord called His servants. She was described as the “clap hand lady” and hence the group was nicknamed the “clap hand church”.

Deaconess Wright, in her quest to find an established organisation to adopt her little group, sought the Lord diligently. Before long, the Lord sent the answer to her prayer through Deaconess Whyte, who had recently relocated to Point Hill. She was previously introduced to the Seventh Day Church of God (Reformed) by a member and was interested to have a branch in her community.

As Deaconess Whyte sought for a place of worship in Point Hill, she learned of Deaconess Wright’s desire to become part of an established Body.  Deaconess Whyte then acted on the information she had and approached Pastor Waugh on the behalf of the group.

As the group was now engrafted into the Seventh Day Church of God, with hands and hearts united, they obeyed the command- “Arise ye therefore, and build the Sanctuary of the Lord’‘. The Sanctuary (approximately 16′ x 37′) was built on a plot of land donated by Deaconess Wright and was dedicated in 1974.

There were nine (9) founding members who amidst many struggles, faithfully declared the words of God in the Community. Many were healed and delivered from diverse conditions by the Lord through His servants and souls were drawn into the Body.

As the need arose for a larger building, the current structure measuring 25′ by 58′ inclusive of the vestry was constructed. This building was completed and dedicated on May 19,1991

The resident Pastor is Assistant Overseer Gershom Baxter.

We have come this far by faith, leaning on the Lord”.

Thanks be to God!!!
