In the year 1961, the Albion Mountain Assembly in St Mary, Jamaica, West Indies was born out of a desire by a group of six (6) persons to learn more about what God required for one to be saved, including the formula for baptism. This group which was headed by Bro. Claudius Edwards prayed and waited patiently for the dawn of the day when the ‘full truth’ would be revealed.
In their quest for this knowledge, the group learning of the Seventh Day Church of God (Reformed), consulted with Overseer, Pastor Hixroy J. Waugh who taught them from the scriptures concerning baptism and other requirements of God. The group was happy because they realized that their understanding of the scriptures was in accordance with the teachings they received from Overseer Waugh. Bro. Claudius Edwards then broke ranks with former associates who had different beliefs and thus began the ‘work’ in Albion Mountain.
The work went from a wattle and daub structure situated on the Wilshaw’s property, to Brother and Deaconess Lain’s house, then to Sis. Baugh’s house, and finally to its present location on a plot donated by Sis. N. Taylor. The church building was dedicated in December 1968. Several souls have since been added to the church.
The Church is now being led by Evangelist Lenford Frost.
