The UK Assembly located in Battersea, London, was established after Evangelist Sharon Ormsby had migrated to the United Kingdom in 2001 to assume a teaching role. Her underlying desire was to spend a couple of years and then return to Jamaica.  As we always discover, “God moved in a mysterious way to perform His wonders…” so that her time has extended to over twenty years. 

Shortly after her arrival she was joined by her husband Evangelist Roy Ormsby (who was later ordained Pastor) and they began worshipping at different Sabbath keeping churches. They eventually settled at one for over three years where they felt that the worship was in some way similar to the type of worship to which they were accustomed in Jamaica. Their composure was, however, disquieted as they felt the urge like Moses in Egypt to find their brothers and sisters and to fellowship together. 

This strong desire was realised on January 29, 2005, when the church of three met at Sister Joy Campbell’s home in Stratham. The Lord’s presence was evident as the group gathered. The scripture for meditation was Psalm 50:5, “Gather my saints together unto Me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.” This came as confirmation of the urge they had and an understanding of God’s purpose for them in the United Kingdom and became the theme of Evangelist Ormsby’s prayer;“Lord I don’t know where they are, but you know them, so bring them.” 

After spending six months at Sister Campbell’s residence the need arose for the group to relocate, when the living-room could no longer accommodate them as the number kept increasing. They then moved to Wilditch Community Centre where they spent five years worshipping. This was synonymous with the church in the wilderness – they experienced periods of movements and rests as they journeyed. 

It was at this point that the Church was formally launched on July 14, 2007, and the first baptism of two new believers was held on July 15, 2007. Subsequent baptisms followed with four in 2010, six in 2011, four in 2014 and four in 2021.   

Under the Leadership of Pastor Roy Ormsby, the church continues to seek and prepare souls for God’s Kingdom.
