Assemblies

Queens: United States of America

The Queens Assembly located in New York, United States of America, came into existence after a divine revelation through Sister Merita Waugh in 1965, that the Church would go to foreign lands.

The fulfillment of the prophecy had its genesis when a few brethren with a solid Christian background based on the teaching and fellowship of the church migrated to the USA.  In September 1995 after some agreement, the brethren including Deacon Joel Comrie and his wife Sister Ena Comrie, Deaconess Gladys Hall and Sister Doreen Burke, decided to meet for worship at the Comrie’s residence in Queens, New York.

After a few Sabbath meetings, it was evident that the accommodation was no longer adequate for worship, and every effort was now made to identify an alternate venue.  Because of the kindness of a dear friend (Pastor Priestly), the brethren were able to gather for worship on Sabbaths, at his church (the Universal Church of God in Christ), located at 1775 Fulton Street in Brooklyn, New York. On October 14, 1995, the group met for the first time at that location to continue God’s ministry under the leadership of Evangelist Joel Comrie (formerly Deacon Comrie).

As the work took shape, however, it became necessary for the church to have its own resident pastor.  The Lord then saw it fit to have Evangelist Comrie ordained to that position on August 17, 1996. Sister Ena Comrie was also ordained a Deaconess and Elder Emith Virgin confirmed as an Elder. The first baptism of the church took place on March 30, 1996, at the Brooklyn location where six individuals were immersed.

The brethren continued to worship at Fulton Street until they saw the necessity for having their own place.  By faith and trusting in God, they sought a place that they could call their own. After some time, a two-family house located at 150-15 116th Drive was identified by Elder Virgin. The brethren came together and were satisfied that it would be suitable for the Church.

The building was then acquired, and renovation commenced through contributions from the Queens brethren and funding from Headquarters in Jamaica. On October 12, 1996, the first service was held in a section of the building while renovation continued. After completion, the building was dedicated on July 13, 1997, thus the fulfilling the prophecy. On this occasion, three souls were baptized.

The year 1998 proved to be spectacular as thirteen (13) young souls gave their lives to the Lord.  On July 17, 1999, another twelve (12) candidates were added to the church by baptism.

The Church under the leadership of Pastors Derrick Hall and Emith Virgin supported by other Ministers and brethren, continues to prepare souls for the Kingdom of God.

To God be the Glory!
