The Roadside Assembly located in St Ann, Jamaica West Indies, was established after Mr Cecil Hayden invited his friend Mr Joseph Wright to his wedding, and later invited him to a special service at Headquarters.
During this special service, the Lord spoke through Sister Merita Waugh to send ‘fifty (50) strong’ to Roadside, to hold a Street meeting. This Street meeting was held in River Head District after which Mr Joseph Wright answered the call of God. On September 13, 1970, Brother Joseph Wright and Sister Ruby Wallace were immersed into the Body of Christ.
Pastor Hixroy Joseph Waugh, the Overseer, then went to Roadside to seek a place for worship. Brother Wright introduced him to Mr George Simpson, who rented him a room in his house to be used for Worship.
The first Sabbath Service was then held with three (3) members – Sister Ruby Wallace, Brother Joseph Wright and Sister Phyllis Wright, and the Wright’s nine (9) children. Brethren from Headquarters began visiting them on Sabbaths and as time went by the number grew and the need arose for a church building. It was then that Mr George Simpson (who later became a member of the Church) gave a plot of land for the purpose. The Church building was erected and then dedicated in the year 1971.
Under the Leadership of Evangelist Ralston Wright, supervised by Pastor Trevor Hyde, the Church continues to seek and prepare souls for the Kingdom of God.
