Grierfield

The Grierfield Assembly which is situated in St. Ann, Jamaica West Indies, is a five-minute drive west of the Moneague Police Station and approximately seven minutes from the Moneague Community Centre.

In 1976, one Brother Davis, his wife, and Elder Harold Peart started house-to-house visits in the community of Grierfield with the intent to win souls. Shortly thereafter, open-air meetings were held in the town centre as well as at other locations.

Brethren from the Roadside Assembly, which is also situated in St. Ann, registered their support by accompanying this small group on their mission. As the need for a place of worship arose, a plot of land was loaned to the church by a Mr Young. Shortly afterwards, the church was re-located to the house of Sister McCalla who had become a member of the Church.  A few months later, the said family loaned to the group a plot of land where a temporary structure was erected.

It was only a matter of time before others began accepting the message of salvation and the doctrine.  Subsequently, the first baptism was held on May 28,1977 where eight (8) souls were immersed.

The quest continued for land to erect a permanent building. In answer to their fervent prayers the Lord provided for purchase, a plot of land, and on September 15, 1978 the spot on which the church now stands, was dedicated to the Lord in a ground-breaking ceremony.

The construction of the building presented tremendous challenges as the land itself was not ideal for building purposes, and to aggravate the situation there were those who complained to the Building Authorities that there were potential breaches. Upon investigations, however, it was found that the regulations were being adhered to, hence there was nothing to stop the work. In spite of all the challenges, the building was completed and dedicated on August 14, 1988.

For many years the Grierfield Assembly was led by Deputy Overseer Pastor Lennox Peart, who served until the time of his death. The Church is now being led by Evangelist Vincent Perry who continues to carry on the work of the Ministry.

To God be the glory, Great things He hath done!
