The Dean Pen Assembly is located two miles from the town of Highgate in St. Mary, Jamaica, West Indies on a plot of land which was donated by Mrs Pearle Cameron, and her daughter Mrs Hermalyn Sterling (now Deaconess). 

The donation of the land was in keeping with a request made by the late husband and father of these two women who had asked that after his death the land be donated to the “true church”. It was after thirty years that his family became acquainted with the Seventh Day Church of God (Reformed) which, in their estimation, represents what he was looking for. 

The erection of the sanctuary commenced in 2001, when two newly baptised members – Bro and Sis Jones of 20 East Road were assigned the task of seeing to the construction of the Sanctuary on the donated site. The site was first visited by two ministers – Pastors L. Dennis and G. Baker on November 18, 2001, and work commenced shortly thereafter. During the construction prayer meetings were held weekly in the unfinished building. 

With God’s help, by July 5, 2003, the first Sabbath worship was held under the theme “The Better Way” with newly appointed Deacon L. Jones as the moderator and Pastor G. Baker as the Preacher.  For the second Sabbath worship, Overseer H.J. Waugh was in attendance and delivered the message “Escape for Thy Life”.

The first members included the Chen family, Sis Enid Thomas, and Sis C. Edwards. Sister H. Sterling and her daughter, Marsha followed. On May 16, 2004, Dean Pen had its first ‘at-home’ baptism with the immersion of Sis Joycelyn Edwards.  

Improvement on the church building continued and its dedication followed on July 11, 2004.
