On April 21, 2024, Baptist Temple Church voted in Rev. Daryl W. Winston as our Senior Pastor. Previously, Rev. Winston was an Associate Minister and spiritual leader at Christ Baptist Church, the Second Baptist Church, Burlington, New Jersey.
Rev. Winston answered the call to the ministry when licensed as a minister in 2008, and ordained by Christ Baptist Church, on July 29, 2012. Rev. Winston is most known for his teaching style and love for God’s people. The Word of God is central to his faith and spiritual guide. He uses the Bible to illuminate a dark and lost world. Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6. The Lord has gifted Rev. Winston with organization, administration, and a pastor’s heart. Rev. Winston has a compassionate spirit and servant’s attitude. He exudes the love of Christ. See Matt 22:37-40.
By way of formal education, Rev. Winston graduated from Penn State, with a B.A. in Administration of Justice (1988). He then graduated from Ohio State University College of Law with a J.D. (1991). In 2005, Rev. Winston acquired a Master’s Degree in Trial Advocacy, known as a LL.M, with honors. Then seeking to crystalize his biblical training, Rev. Winston garnered his Master’s in Divinity (M.Div.) from Princeton Theological Seminary (2017). Rev. Winston married the love of his life, Jo Ann Winston on November 8, 1997. As they have celebrated over 26 years of blissful marriage, they thank God for their two children Dawson and Jaina, who have graduated from Pitt and Penn State.
Aside from practicing law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey for over 25 years, and receiving numerous accolades as a trial lawyer such as being recognized in Super Lawyers from 2013 to the present, Rev. Winston’s true calling is to preach and shepherd God’s people. In 2009, with the providence of the Holy Spirit, Rev. Winston opened his private law firm as his public ministry. His tag line is: On a Mission to Serve and Succeed. For the past fourteen years, Rev. Winston has been used by the Lord to save souls through his legal and church ministry. He often says to those in need, “allow me and the Lord to be your burden bearer.” Rev. Winston is being obedient to the Lord. God has called him to be a local shepherd. His prayer is that we hear the voice of the Lord. Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” John 10:27. One of Rev. Winston’s favorite scriptures is: “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” John 3:17. Rev. Winston’s prayer is to provide pastoral care and leadership to Baptist Temple Church.
